Caring for Country – The power of Art

My research project aims to explore how the Visual Arts can strengthen students’ connection to the land on which they learn, work, and play, while empowering students to take an active role in environmental stewardship.

By engaging students in art‑making experiences that draw on local indigenous plants, natural materials, and the stories embedded in our landscape, the project seeks to deepen students’ appreciation of Country and the environmental benefits of planting endemic or native plants.

Students will be supported to research, design, and create artworks that communicate their knowledge within our school and to the wider community.

This project aims to investigate how integrating Visual Arts practices can inspire students to become advocates for sustainability and active participants in shaping their environment.

At the end of the project students will reflect on their learning and consider how their actions informed others and contributed to community understanding through the Visual Arts.
