Advisory Board members are trusted experts who offer constructive guidance and diverse perspectives to support the Centre’s transdisciplinary work. They help strengthen critical thinking in both research and education, ensuring that the Centre’s practices remain rigorous, ethical, and oriented toward transformative learning and ecological responsibility.

Professor Kate Rigby

Professor of Environmental Humanities at the University of Cologne

Professor Kate Rigby was born in Australia. She was the inaugural President of the Association for the Study of Literature and Environment. In 2013, she became Australia’s first professor of environmental studies. In 2016 Kate was appointed as the Director of the Research Centre for Environmental Humanities at Bath Spa University, and in 2022 Kate became Alexander von Humboldt Professor of Environmental Humanities at the University of Cologne.

She is a founding member of several environmental humanities institutions and on the editorial boards of the relevant specialist journals.
